The supply side of the online casino industry saw an 8% growth in 2022 compared to the previous year. The industry now boasts 1,405 suppliers, categorized into studios, studio/aggregators, aggregators, and others. This growth is indicative of the increasing diversity and competition within the industry.

Dominance of Big Studio Groups

Despite the increase in the number of suppliers, the top 10 studio groups accounted for 56% of all game tiles globally. Evolution Gaming topped the list, with its subsidiaries contributing to a massive 14% of all game space across casino sites globally. This dominance of big studio groups reflects the consolidation of content supply in the industry, which reached 70% in 2022.

Increase in Game Production

The number of unique games identified each month across operator sites increased by 33% compared to 2021. This increase can be attributed to several factors, including the reluctance of operators to retire games, the addition of more content studios each year, and the launch of new studios producing content.

Popularity of Slots

Slots remained the most popular type of game in 2022, accounting for 87.5% of all game content across casino pages. Other game types, such as slingo and crash games, made inroads but were still dwarfed in numbers.

This dominance can be attributed to several factors.

Seven studio groups, including Games Global, Spinomenal, and Pragmatic Play, launched more than 100 games in 2022. This high level of productivity reflects the intense competition and innovation within the industry.
